Charlotte Brennan has voiced her interest in hiking trails in and around Bathurst Village. She has started a Whatsapp Group named the ‘Bathurst Striders’ where community walks are being set up for any interested person to join.The weekly walks have become very popular and are frequented well.
Apart from the normal walks, Charlotte is also organising walks with an interest, such as the Historic walk, narrated by Nick Cowley. Bathurst village has many historic buildings and as such an interesting walk around the History of our village can be enjoyed by many. Charlotte has also expressed an interest to create maps for any such walks. These maps are put on the whatsapp group after each walk.
In addition, we already had a Tree walk in the commonage where Monty Roodt named and talked about many of our indiginous trees. Another one was a Mushroom walk with Jon McGillivray, President of the South African Mycological Society. These walks are very popular drawing crowds of +- 20 walkers.
